My Story.
All through my life I have enjoyed travelling and seeing new places but with a growing family travel was curtailed slightly and I began exploring my home state of Tasmania. This rekindled my love and appreciation of Tasmania as it struck me that there are so many beautiful, diverse and story-rich nooks all over this tiny island of ours.
Up until I had my children I had a very demanding but enjoyable corporate career in finance and with the explosion of online booking platforms such as Airbnb and Homeaway I saw and still see an opportunity to combine all of the things that I love with the skill sets that I have developed over my career.
Having hosted many guests and stayed in many properties I could see a gap in the service offering between property management and hosting management. I quickly realised that a traditional property management approach cannot be applied in this new hosting landscape. Guests expect a more personal approach when they stay in a home and they choose this over a traditional hotel stay. I started Storied Homes in 2020 (yes smack bang in the middle of a global pandemic) knowing that now is a great time to reset and refocus in time for us all to start travelling again. It’s also been so lovely to see Tasmanian’s explore their home state and rekindle that love and appreciation that I had found.
I truly believe there is so much potential in this space if it’s done well.
